    SERVICES

    Plant and Logistics Services

RADDS Plant and Logistics company is defined by four business units:

    • Open Cast Mining

    • Bulk Materials Handling

    • Heavy Transport

    • Plant Hire

    Open Cast Mining

With a large, modern fleet of articulated dump trucks – including Bell B60Es and B50Es – supported by efficient excavators, RADDS has proven capacity to successfully undertake large volume load and haul contracts.  Initially starting out at a KwaZulu-Natal quarry operation supplying tipper trucks and water carts, RADDS has grown this aspect of the business to include the complete opencast mining operation from drill and blast through to load and haul and mine rehabilitation.

Geographically the company’s footprint now extends to the North West and Western Cape provinces where RADDS contracts to the country’s major cement and aggregates suppliers, among others. Monthly production averages 500 000 tonnes of material per month.

    BULK MATERIALS HANDLING

Operating a 24-hour operation throughout the year, RADDS has been a stalwart at the Port of Richards Bay since 2005. The port is South Africa’s largest in terms of volumes handled, which is about 80 million tonnes annually, or 55% of the country’s seaborne cargo, and RADDS is the largest transport contractor on site.

The company’s substantial fleet of wheeled loaders, articulated dump trucks, tipper trucks and specially adapted excavators meet the demands of the local shipping industry, where uptime and productivity are key drivers to meeting targets.

The company’s material handling contracts involve loading, unloading, transport and stockpiling of bulk commodities including coal, ferrochrome, magnetite and pig iron.

    HEAVY TRANSPORT

The RADDS lowbed division is a preferred supplier to Bell Equipment and helps the Richards Bay-based manufacturer to transport its machines around the country.

The division is equipped to offer a comprehensive range of abnormal load services nationwide as well as cross border, including the arrangement of escort and permit requirements.

A roll back moves smaller machines around the country, while six 2,6m lowbeds are used for legal loads and an abnormal 3,1m lowbed for large, heavier moves.

The lowbeds have all been granted a unique AV number by the Department of Transport, enabling RADDS to transport loads above the legal limit.

    PLANT HIRE

RADDS has a world-class fleet of 20t excavators, dozers, graders, rollers and water tankers that together meet the general plant hire needs of the construction industry.

Investing in some of the world’s top performing equipment brands and following a strict maintenance programme ensures that RADDS’s clients can rely on efficient/cost effective equipment that delivers maximum uptime and productivity.
